Tips for Sports bra

Sports bra fitting isn’t an exact science, but we’ll give you some tips on how to find the right sports bra for your size and activity. Since bra sizes vary from brand to brand, there is no

universal standard, so make sure you try on several brands, sizes and styles at one store until you find the one that works for you.

Sports Bra Features

Adjustable straps provide the best fit and are typically used in wrap or wrap/compression sports bras. Bras with adjustable straps will also last longer because you can tighten the

straps as the bra ages and stretches.

Back closure: While most sports bras are worn over the head, some have a hooked back closure. In addition to being easier to put on and take off, this type of sports bra also

allows you to further adjust the fit. When trying

on a new sports bra, use the loosest hook available. This way, when the bra inevitably stretches, you can still tighten it and the bra will last longer.

Underwire: The underwire in a sports bra supports each breast individually, helping to minimize movement. The underwire should lie flat on your ribcage, under the breast tissue,

and should not puncture or pinch.

Moisture-wicking fabric draws moisture away from the skin for extra comfort. All sports bras will be made from moisture-wicking fabrics — polyester or even wool blends.

Sports Bra Construction

Sports bras minimize breast movement in a number of ways.

Encapsulated sports bras: These bras use individual cups to enclose and support each breast individually. These bras don’t compress (most everyday bras are encapsulation bras),

so they’re usually best for low-impact activities. Encapsulation bras offer a more natural shape than compression bras.

Compression sports bras: These bras typically pull over your head and press your breasts against your chest wall to limit movement. There is no cup built into their design. For cup

sizes A-B, a compression sports bra without adjustable straps or adjustable straps is suitable for low to moderate intensity activities. For C-DD cups, a compression sports bra

should have adjustable straps and straps to ensure a good fit and provide mid-to-high support.

Compression/Encapsulation Sports Bra: Many sports bras combine the above methods to provide support and natural shape. These bras offer more support than compression or

encapsulation alone because each breast is individually supported in the cups and also presses against the chest wall. For A-B cups, these bras may have adjustable straps or

straps to fit from low to high impact. For C-DD cups, these bras should have adjustable straps and adjustable straps for a proper fit and are great for high impact.
